Getting started with Moosend

Abstract

Overview of the tasks and concepts you need to know when you start to work with Moosend.

Moosend provides you with all the necessary tools to onboard and get started down your email marketing path. To get up and running, these are a few steps that you should take:

Adding a sender

A sender is the name and email address that your recipients see in the From field of their inbox when they receive your newsletter. The default sender for your account is the account owner with Moosend. You can add as many senders to your account as you want.

Creating your first email list

An email list is a list of your subscribers. It is a good idea to start by making some custom fields for inputting data that you collect on your subscribers. Later on, you can use these fields inside your newsletters to give them a personal touch. Custom fields are also used on your segmentation filtering to divide your lists in creative ways. We recommend that you create a subscription form and embed it on your website, so that your site visitors can register for your email list.

Filling up your email list

To fill up your email list, you can either import recipients from an external source using CSV or TXT files, or you can copy and paste their data. Map the columns of data from your source to the available fields, including any custom fields you may created.

Creating your first email marketing campaign

To get started with your first email marketing campaign, you must select campaign type and enter the subject. Select a sender for the campaign, and the email list you want to receive it. Then, write the content of the campaign, and send it to your subscribers. You can either send it right away or schedule it for a later time. It is a good idea to send a test campaign to yourself and some colleagues before sending it to the entire email list, so you can see what it looks like. When your campaign is sent, you can view its statistics in the reports menu.

Connecting a website to your account

The website connection script lets you record the actions your users perform on your website and connect those with the campaigns you send. You can also connect the forms in your account to your website pages and fine-tune when they appear and to who they appear to.
