Tracking the actions of a website visitor

Abstract

Track the actions of your site visitors.

You must identify your website visitors if you want to create automation triggers based on the actions that take place on your website. You can add a unique tracking code to the areas of your website that you want to track the actions of your site visitors. Some CMS applications only require a tracking ID.

If you place the provided tracking code into the <head> HTML tag of the page, or use an available plugin to do that, you can identify the person who visits your website and engage with them using Moosend automation.

Alternatively, you can identify the person visiting your site by their email address. There are several ways to learn someone's email address when they are visiting your site:

  • When they reach your website through a link inside your newsletter.

  • If they add their email address to a subscription form on your website.

  • When they register on your website.

  • When they log in to your website.
